At PickOne we want to give up-and-coming textile artists an affordable and professional space with quality contemporary equipment to help kick-start their creative practice.
We are offering a dedicated open-access studio space for weavers, specifically for recent graduates, where skills, techniques and collections/samples can be honed and refined for exhibition or retail purposes.
As well as providing a space with 24-hour studio access and contemporary weave equipment, mentoring/business advice can also be built into this service.
Similarly the space can also be hired by more established weavers for periods self motivated residencies or for those that wish to have a weaving holiday in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The light and airy PickOne studio space is approximately 17 x 6m and located in the vibrant Coburg House Art Studios complex in the heart of Leith. The Open Access facility has been in part set up with the generous assistance of the Inches Carr Trust and Creative Scotland.
What’s included?
A dedicated 32-shaft Louet computerised Megado with a weaving width of 1.3m and two back beams, both with sectional warping features
5 reed sizes (20, 40, 60, 80 and 100)
A studio laptop utilising Proweave software to run the Megado loom (assistance/instruction can be given as part of the service)
4, 8 and 16 shaft Ashford table looms - subject to availability
Finishing facilities - access to a sewing machine, overlocker and washing machine

Studio Hire
£375 (per calendar month / 4-week period)
Additional 7 day blocks may be booked at £100 per 7 days.
Booking of 3 months or more will be subject to a 10% discount for both looms.
Mentoring
£262.00
An optional 7 hours of mentoring a month can be built into this service in accordance with the Scottish Artists Union rates.
Mentoring input can be spread out over the duration of the booking. Additional mentoring will be charged at £35.00 an hour. This hourly rate will be applied if less than 7 hours is required.
