Sashiko Sampler Workshop - with Karen Giroud

2.5 hour long workshop - £57

Capacity - 8

Step into the beautiful world of traditional Japanese Sashiko stitching in this creative, relaxing, and inspiring workshop.

Originally developed as a practical embroidery technique to repair and strengthen clothing, Sashiko has evolved into a celebrated textile art form that offers endless opportunities for creativity through pattern, texture, and colour.

Both mindful and meditative, Sashiko is a wonderfully portable craft that can be enjoyed at home or while travelling – a perfect way to swap screen time for something creative and rewarding.

During this engaging 2.5-hour workshop, Karen will demonstrate how to plan and grid out designs, as well as master the stitching techniques used to create intricate geometric patterns. Using provided templates and guidance, you will create your own Sashiko sampler square on linen or cotton drill.

Beginning with a flat sampler is an excellent way to build confidence and develop essential skills before progressing to decorative mending and visible repairs on garments such as sleeves, trousers, and other well-loved clothing.

All materials are provided, including refreshments and the workshop is suitable for everyone—from complete beginners looking to try something new to experienced stitchers and sewists wishing to expand their textile skills.
