Weaving a gamp.
According to Madelyn Van Der Hoogt a gamp " ... allows you to see the different colour blends and patterns that are created when one colour and/or threading order in the warp is woven using a different colour and/or lifting order in the weft. This can be very instructive and inspire new pattern and colour combinations for future work. But gamps also tend to make beautiful and interesting pieces in themselves."
For this 2 day workshop 3 sixteen shaft Ashford looms will be fully dressed and threaded so that you can concentrate solely on playing with the different lifts provided as well as examining how the use of differing weft colours influence and play off of each of the warp colours utilised.
Looms provided will be threaded with 4 differing twill structures on the same loom, offering the novice weaver an introduction to the exciting differing possibilities this versatile weave structure can give, as well as giving those with some experience the opportunity to play with both structure and colour.
This will be a fun weekend with the focus on weaving beautiful cloth with your colour choices chosen from an extensive collection of colourful merino lambs wool, making each completed gamp unique to you.
