December 2000
In conjunction with Fiona Mackintosh of Tessuti a retail outlet called Concrete Wardrobe was established to specifically promote and sell Scottish based/ trained textile makers. The media Concrete Wardrobe promotes includes Print, Weave, Felt, Embroidery and our product range includes scarfs, bags of many descriptions, belts, tops, skirts, Harris Tweed made to measure suits, hats, jewellery, tables, chairs, vases, plates and lighting. This has now grown to encompass glass makers, ceramicists, product designers, jewellers, furniture makers/ designers, tailors and fashion designers. All staff are also suppliers of the space. As well as PickOne and Tessuti products other suppliers include the following: Teena K Ramsey, I-Glass, SodaKitsch, Katherine Emtage, Catherine Aitken, Mairi Brown, Lara Scobie, Myer Halliday. This ever expanding range of products is all locally sourced within Scotland and while Concrete Wardrobe do not demand exclusivity many of our products can not be found anywhere else in Edinburgh and, in some cases, Scotland.
